Gina Lovejoy, formerly Sheridan, grew up incurably curious in a benevolently chaotic household full of siblings, animals, and books.
Gina holds a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama and has built a career in libraries and communications that bridges community engagement, equitable access to information, and learner-centered support. She has worked in public libraries across California and Missouri, where she designed programs, partnered with community organizations, and supported patrons of all backgrounds and ages. In recognition of her service, she received the 2019 Missouri Outstanding Professional Librarian Award from the Missouri Library Association. Currently, she works full time as an academic librarian at Webster University in St. Louis, where she supports students and faculty with research, instruction, and information discovery, and develops internal and external communications and outreach opportunities.
She completed death doula training with Alua Arthur and the Going with Grace team in Spring 2023 and earned a Master’s in Biology through Miami University and the Missouri Botanical Garden as part of the Project Dragonfly Advanced Inquiry program in December 2023. Her studies centered on natural and sustainable funeral methods that honor the earth and the people who return to it. She is drawn to doula work because she believes everyone deserves clarity, agency, and compassionate support throughout the dying process. Her doula and death education practice is called Radical Love Death Doula.
In addition to her professional roles, she volunteers with BJC Hospice, providing practical help and companionship to people and families navigating serious illness.
Gina lives in St. Louis, Missouri with two cat friends, Surely Pancake and Juniper Pennywish, in a house filled with art and color. When she is not working or learning, she might be at the botanical garden, listening to a podcast, unplugging in a cabin in the woods, talking to an animal, connecting with womenfolk, cheering for the underdogs, or reading stories about brave children in dark places.
